About Your Vote and Why We Have Elections

(Charlie Neibergall, File/ Associated Press ) - In this Oct. 16, 2012 file photo, Republican presidential candidate, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama spar during the second presidential debate at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y.

The General Election is over and Obama won just like I thought he would. Governments have elections when they know how the election is going to turn out. Here is the reason why the United States has a two party system. To run in the two party system, you have to pass around a petition and get a required number of voters from your party to get on the ballot.  The higher the office, the more money you have to pay to get on the ballot. You must get your petition back into the election office in the required time and you must have the proper legal signatures and stamps. If someone does not want you on the ballot, they can challenge your petition.  This is how they control the number of people running for a position. The less running, the more a group of people can control who gets the job. If challengers survive that then they have the media make them look like a recent inmate from a county jail.  If they can control who gets the job, they may be able to control who gets the contract, licenses, and appointed positions controlled by that political employee.

I have been accused of interfering in elections in the past.  I am a US Citizen and a super voter but I do not play by the rules of the system.  I studied how the local, state, national, and international systems work and I know how to interfere with the rich and powerful people’s plans when I do not agree with them. I have been interrogated for telling the public what political employees and their appointees have been doing to the public on several occasions. I have also been punished for it. People have had Black people file charges against me while they the interrogators stayed in the back ground.

Obama is nothing more than an employee that figured out how to beat the system. He went to the right schools and made friends with the right people. He maneuvered his way up the political latter to the US Senate. No one expected him to seriously challenge the power structure for the job of President of the United States. After all, he is Black. Most voters are White. When they found out that voters of all colors were taking him seriously, they had to try to discredit him. This is why you know the name Jeremiah Alvesta Wright, Jr. They tried guilt by association. Over time, this did not work.

KKK warns of death threat against Barack Obama
Look at the link above.

Since 1980, the GOP is a partnership of the South affiliated KKK organizations and the people who hate non-Whites in the Western States. These are the people who believe that the White race in America is being discriminated against. They believe that their rights should be more equal than everyone else’s.

In 2008, the GOP knew that running against Obama would not be difficult. All they had to do was paint him as a Socialist Liberal who hated White people. But they did not count on one serious problem that the GOP was having. They were residing over the worst Great Depression that this country has seen since the 1930s. A goat could have run against the GOP and won.

After the election, the hatred against Obama grew. He went to school with them but he was not one of them. The world governing elite had no problem with him as a Presidential Employee. But his piers did. The Speaker of the House and many other people came out in public and said that they hope the President fails.

Rush Limbaugh wants Obama to fail

People slandered him saying that he is not a citizen of the United States. They called him “uppity” and everything but a child of God.  Obama was treated the same as most Black people in America hired to do a job. He found himself in a position of getting no cooperation, isolation, and accusations against him.

What Republicans Really Want is For Obama To Fail!

But one thing the GOP would not believe, the makeup of the United States has changed. It is no longer Black (the minority) and the Whites (the Majority), which they knew from the time of the country’s creation. Since the 1950s, minorities from all over the world came to America and became American citizens. The GOP knew that they can defeat him with that same old anti-Black message of “He is an uppity foreign Black that is in a position that is over his head. He is incompetent.”

I said nothing while the campaign went on. I knew the election was a done deal. The media told us that the election was a “dead heat.”  I don't call 303 to 206 Electoral Votes a “dead heat” like the media has been saying. In fact, it would be hard for Obama to lose the election no matter how hard he tried to do so (his debate performance). The United States is no longer overwhelmingly white. That is something that the GOP refused to believe. They long for the days when they can beat up on defenseless Black people like Mayor of Baltimore, Agnew did. That is why Agnew became Vice President under Nixon. They refuse to believe time has passed them by. This color time bomb has been ticking for 50 years in the United State.

The Republican Party has paid no attention to this fact. You can see this at every election stop made by the Republicans in this campaign. The crowds were always White. Here is why the media can sell to the public that the race was a “dead heat” when in fact, it was a runaway election.

White people ignore anyone that is not white so Blacks are not included in most polling especially Republican polling. If the Republican Party does not find a way to include people of color into their party, they can look for a bigger time bomb explosion in 4 years. If they do not learn after that, look for a third party to replace the Republican Party, one that includes people of color and is approved by the world masters.

Your first clue that the President won the election came when Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York indorsed Obama and the Republican up start of the Republican Party New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie followed Obama around in front of the media looking like a bobble head doll every time Obama made a speech. Let’s not forget Republican General Powell’s last minute endorsement of Obama. He did the same thing when it was clear that Obama would win in 2008.

Harrisburg: Winter view of Harrisburg from the West Shore
City of Harrisburg, Pa.

Your Vote Really is not Worth a “God Damn!”

I waited until after the general election to talk about the disaster in Harrisburg. I can care less what employee runs what government. But I do care if I am being robbed or not.  People think that the Harrisburg politicians caused the disaster in Harrisburg. Not really! It was the area politicians that caused the problems in Harrisburg. The lack of Political over site of local government allowed Mayor Reed to run amuck. They allowed him to run City Authorities, run candidates for City Council, and control the auditor and treasurer’s office. His political machine got so powerful in the area that they threatened the media by harassing their advertisers when they would print or put on TV things that Mayor Reed did not like.   Any one that said anything that Mayor Reed did not want to hear was punished economically.

The Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority
is now running the Harrisburg Incenerator.

That is what laid  the ground work for the Mayor hiring unqualified people to do multimillion dollar jobs. The jobs usually turned out to be big failures. The two contractors talked about below could not be bonded because of lack of experience or problems with their contracting history. The Mayor knew this but they were hired anyway without City financial protection. The question that law enforcement should be asking is why did the Federal, State, and Local law enforcement and regulators allow this to happen? Why when told what was going on did they say nothing and now say that no one told them anything.  Why was it so important that Mayor Reed hire these contractors?

Disgraced developer back in court

Hearing on Harrisburg debt shows 'no one is minding the store, and there's no police or penalties for robbing it'

What you see above is a "Pattern and Practice" of Business behavior by Mayor Reed and his political organization.
Mayor Reed spent over $30 Million on artifacts, many of them was not worth $10. Where did the money come from to make such purchases? Why wasn’t an artifact analyst called in to review the items before purchase?

Mayor Linda Thompson took office and renovated the second floor of the City Office Building. A reporter reported that Mayor Thompson spend $33,000 renovating her office with expensive furniture. The Patriot News published the invoices that they claimed proved that Mayor Thompson did just that. No one took the time to read these invoices and verified that Mayor Thompson in fact did sign for these invoices. About $12,000 was sign after January 1 by Mayor Thompson. The rest was signed by Mayor Reed. I pointed this out. The Patriot News withdrew the article and the invoices in a flash. The media did not tell the public about the mistake.

Do you think that anyone would start an investigation to find out what happened to the approximately $21,000 in supplies ordered by Mayor Reed? No, “they could not get Linda on this” so let’s move on was the consensus of the public. In the middle of this mess are the citizens left with the debt that must be paid to corporations that lobbied to get these politicians to put you the citizen in bondage with this debt.

The Crisis in Harrisburg shows that the City is the poster child for what is wrong with the state of Pennsylvania and probably the United States.  So I don’t care who you voted for in any race because your vote really is not worth a “God Damn!”  But yes, there is a way that you can make your vote count. But it takes work on your part.

How can I make my vote count?

The system is designed so that you the individual can make no difference. But if you want to make a difference you can. But I warn you, you will piss off the local, state, federal, or world political bosses. Here is what you must know.

1.      You must understand that the more people that vote the less your vote counts.

Have you ever wondered why in the Presidential Election, you vote for the Candidate for President representative in the Electoral College? These representative votes for the Candidate for President. All 50 states and DC gets several votes. They do not vote with an equal number of representatives. For example, Pennsylvania gets 20 votes, Ohio has 18, New Mexico has 5, and DC has 3 votes.   If you want to see the total number of votes given to each state, look at this link, http://www.bing.com/elections/#polls

From this, you can see that some states can control the election by population. The population is controlled  by the amount of jobs in a given state. The amount of jobs in a given state is controlled by corporations, large as well as small.

This should tell you that you have more voting power when you vote for a City Council member, mayor of your municipality such as in your City, township, or borough. If you have only 20,000 eligible to vote, only 10,000 will vote in your municipal election. Now compare that with the 2004 Presidential Election where 118,699,542 voted. You can see how much your vote has been diluted. The more your vote is diluted, the less your concerns will be heard by politicians.

2.      You must understand that your vote has more of a chance of getting what you want from your municipality than you do the nation.

Have you noticed that in the 2012 Presidential Election, over $4 Billion was spent on advertising by the candidates? This money was paid to the newspapers, radio, TV, Satellite, and cable media. I call this “media Christmas time.” The media will join in this circus by telling you up to the minute “bathroom stops” that the candidates make. This is to get you, the voter to think that you have a vested interest in what is going on in who becomes President. The challenger has no clue what they are talking about and the President knows but can’t tell you because it is not what you want to hear. In fact, both candidates will have pollsters calling you asking you the voter questions about what interest you. Next, the candidates will use the media to tell you that they are interested in the same thing you are interested in. The only difference is that they will talk in vague terms such as they want to bring back good American values or they know how to bring back good paying jobs. This is how the system works and this is your part in it.

In your municipal election, your media will tell you how to vote according to the people who control that media. They will keep from you what is going on politically. They will tell you the latest scandals of people and family members who threaten the local power structure. They can make Jesus look like the child of Satan. Most people believe what they see on TV and hear. That is why many municipalities have the same people for years in government that seem to take high salaries while giving all the municipal business to their friends. This is why many municipalities have a corrupt power structure and is full of debt. As a matter of fact, this is why Harrisburg, Pa. is insolvent today. These politicians and corporate leaders depend on no information or distorted information getting to you about your local situation. In this way, you will vote for them not for your best interest.

In a municipality election, you have a far better chance of electing our own people or retiring politicians who are not acting in your best interest. But you must understand the process and have a strategy for retiring your current leaders.

3.      What do you have to do to get your people elected to local office?

A campaign has two sides to it. You have your candidate that wants the job. You have a candidate that you want to fire. Some people like me is only interested in firing people who I feel is not working in my best interest. I believe that my challenger must prove that they are civically on my side. They have a term to prove it. What is my interest? I want my street paved. I want police and fire protection. I want my garbage picked up. I want people to stop parking in front of my driveway and in fire lanes. I don’t want to pay more taxes than anyone else. I don’t want public money stolen.

You can’t start your campaign with a petition drive. If you do, you are usually too late. You first need to develop an organization online or with people. These people will spread the word to your potential voters bypassing the established media. Know what issues are important to your voters (in your election, your interests are not important). Remember, you want votes not an ego trip. You want to stay away from literature that say no more than, “Hi, My name is Darnell Williams. I am cute. I went to school and I live here. I am running for Dog Pound Leader. Vote for me.” Your campaign literature should reflect what the people want. You send this literature out online, by canvassing neighborhoods, or in person. Go to meet the candidate night expecting to answer and talk about issues that your voters think are important. But remember, you will be confronting people who may not want you elected, be careful on what positions you or your candidate takes. Stick with your issues and don’t get off message.

I also told you that your campaign should talk about what the incumbent has not done or about their mismanagement of public activities. This is why you and your organization should have been attending City Council or other public meetings for years before this campaign. This is where you find out why things happened against your best interest. You should keep a record of what is going on and who is involved. Never tell anyone outside your group what you are doing. The power structure will be watching you because you are gaining knowledge about their activity. When they find out that you are a true threat to them, they will go after you, intimidate you, and try to discredit you. When election time comes, this is the time to expose the incumbent’s activates to the public a week before the election. You do it by the largest mass mailing or online mailing list that you can get. This is when the local voters will pay the most attention to the local election and it will be too late for the incumbent to react. At this point, the local power structure cannot help the incumbent and they will be in a fair political fight for their job.

Special People and Places: This May Change the Life of Your Family

Special People and Places: This May Change the Life of Your Family:                                        Darnell the grandfather and David the grandson. I am going to discuss something that is...

This May Change the Life of Your Family

Darnell the grandfather and David the grandson.

I am going to discuss something that is as serious as a heart attack. I want you to watch this video that I made of two year old David Tulloch playing with his small computer. Pay close attention to the questions that I ask 7 year old Daniel and 2 year old david.  My age is 61. I am giving you their ages for a reason.

This should be a serious warning to you. You have a toddler that is not potty trained with hand and eye coordination of a 16 year old. This toddler has the basic understanding of how to operate small electronic systems. He plays some game called world 3 on the computer. His 7 year old brother cannot out play him on some games. Daniel can not match his playing on the World 3 game. Stephanie his mother and his electronic knowledgeable father Damine cannot out play him either.

His mother doesn’t understand what he is doing. At the doctor’s office recently, he played with his small computer in front of the doctor who claims that he never saw toddlers do what David is doing. I am a computer programmer and I have no clue what he is doing.
I took my Main frame computer course in the late 1960 and 1970s. I was state of the art, so I thought. My younger brother (9 years younger than me) went to Pitt and specialized in PC Systems. I thought that he was out of his mind and did not believe that he would get a job. What I did not know was that the world had already passed me by and his skills were in demand. By the year 2000, I had to get my daughter to show me how to use Windows on my PC. By 2009, my grandson Daniel at age 4 knew how to use a smart phone. He has to turn on the TV for me because I don’t know how to operate their sound system. Today, you have a 2 year old that can use a Smartphone and small computers like it was something common to do.
World technology changes 100% every four years today. So children will be lost in this world economy if they do not have a good comprehension of reading, writing, arithmetic, and technology by the time they reach first grade.
You may think that your child is doing better than John, Paul, or Lakeshia living down the street. But that is not your child’s competition. Your child’s competition for jobs and opportunity will come from the children in Japan, China, India, Mongolia, the Middle East countries, and the rest of the world. Yes, David can work small electronic equipment but believe it or not, he is slightly behind many children living in countries where you were taught is the third world!

Daniel is heading to Rochester, NY

The Two Sub-Bantam 2KM (1.24 Miles) Gold Medal Winners for the 2012 USATF Mid-Atlantic Association Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships on Saturday Nov. 3, 2012 at Belmont Plateau, Philadelphia, Pa.

Daniel's Gold Medal

The Flash qualified for the USATF Region 2 Championships that will be held in Black Creek Park, North Chili, NY, a suburb of Rochester on Sunday November 18, 2012.

He ran the 2K(1.24 Miles) in 10 Minutes, 14.06 seconds. This means that Daniel ran 7.34 Miles per Hour in the race. He will have to run faster than this if he plans to win the Region 2 race in North Chili, New York.
In this picture Stephanie, his mother is placing Daniel's bib on before the race.
Daniel's Grandfather is making sure Daniel's shoe strings don't come loose on his spikes at the start of the race.
This is the end of Daniel's 2K race.
Daniel's race started on a flat plain then down and up a small hill. He ran across another plain then turned left and climbed up a long steep hill before turning left and running down a long gradual grade. He finished the last half mile by running down and up a small hill and finishing on the second plain.

Daniel will represent the Mid-Atlantic Association that covers Eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware. He will run against 3 other associations. The New Jersey Association covers all of New Jersey. He will run against children from the Three Rivers Association ( Western and Northern Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, and Northern West Virginia) and the Niagara Association (West Up State New York).

2012 Cemetery Ridge 5K Challenge

Daniel waiting for the start of the 5K Race.

Daniel's last 5K race took place at Gravel Hill United Methodist Church on Oct. 27, 2012, called the Cemetery Ridge 5K Challenge in Palmyra, Pa. The results of the race will be posted on Monday Oct. 29, 2012 at; www.gravelhillumc.org

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjGBWSgq3RQ
Place this link in your browser so that you can see the beginning of the race.

Daniel ran the 5K in 24 Minutes, 2 Seconds. He finished 3 seconds ahead of his Harrisburg 5k time. The race went through a cemetery, up and down hills, past farm land, and through a development. The final sprint to the finish was back through the cemetery. Over all, he finished 49th out of 238 runners of all ages. You can get the details of how Daniel finished in the 14 and Under Group on Monday Oct, 29, 2012 or after on www.gravelhillumc.org.

The "Flash" had a surprise visitor cheering him on during the race. His Physical Education Teacher, Ms. Correll was screaming in support of Daniel. She is very proud that she has him as a second grade student. I hope that Ms. Correll will give him extra credit in Gym class for his work!

I could not find Daniel when the race was over. He ran through the finish line and headed straight for the playground.

Cross Country Running

Daniel as he finished the race in Northern York
Daniel Tulloch is about to go into Natural Terrain running as he enters the USATF Cross Country Series. He will change from running shoes to spikes. Do you remember this conversation with a member of one of York’s Cross Country Clubs when Daniel ran the Sasquatch Preservation Trail Run?
This Cross Country racer was asking if Daniel preferred the road or the country side?
What was she talking about when the lady asked does Daniel like to run on the road or through the woods?  We are going to discuss the difference between street vs. natural terrain or woods courses.
Cross country running is a sport in which teams and individuals run a race on open-air courses over natural terrain. The course, typically 4–12 kilometers (2.5–7.5 mi) long, may include surfaces of grass and earth, pass through woodlands and open country, and include hills, flat ground and sometimes gravel road. It is both an individual and a team sport, runners are judged on individual times and a points scoring method for teams. Both men and women of all ages compete in cross country, which usually takes place during autumn and winter, and can include weather conditions of rain, sleet, snow or hail, and a wide range of temperatures.
Cross country running is one of the disciplines under the umbrella sport of athletics, long-distance track and road running. Although open-air running competitions are pre-historic, the rules and traditions of cross country racing emerged in Britain. The English championship became the first national competition in 1876 and the International Cross Country Championships was held for the first time in 1903. Since 1973 the foremost elite competition has been the IAAF World Cross Country Championships.
Cross country courses generally are laid out on an open or woodland area. The IAAF recommends that courses be grass-covered, and have rolling terrain with frequent but smooth turns. Courses consist of one or more loops, with a long straight at the start and another leading to the finish line.
Because of variations in conditions, international standardization of cross country courses is impossible, and not necessarily desirable. Part of cross country running's appeal is the natural and distinct characteristics of each venue's terrain and weather. Terrain can vary from open fields to forest hills and even across rivers.
According to the IAAF, an ideal cross country course has a loop of 1,750 to 2,000 meters (1,910 to 2,200 yards) lay out on an open or wooded land. It should be covered by grass, as much as possible, and include rolling hills "with smooth curves and short straights". While it is perfectly acceptable for local conditions to make dirt or snow the primary surface, courses should minimize running on roads or other macadamized paths. Parks and golf courses often provide good locations. While a course may include natural or artificial obstacles, cross country courses support continuous running, and generally do not require climbing over high barriers, through deep ditches, or fighting through underbrush.
A course at least 5 meters (5.5 yards) wide allows competitors to pass during the race. Clear markings keep competitors from making wrong turns, and spectators from interfering with the competition. Markings may include tape or ribbon on both sides of the course, chalk or paint on the ground, or cones. Some courses use colored flags to indicate directions: red flags for left turns, yellow flags for right turns and blue flags for continuing straight ahead. Courses also commonly include distance markings, usually at each kilometer or each mile.
The course should have 400 to 1,200 m (440 to 1,300 yards) of straight terrain before the first turn, to reduce contact and congestion at the start. However, many courses at smaller competitions have their first turn after a much shorter distance.
Courses for international competitions consist of a loop between 1750 and 2000 meters. Athletes complete three to six loops, depending on the race. Senior men compete on a 12-kilometre course. Senior women and junior men compete on an 8-kilometre course. Junior women compete on a 6-kilometre course.
In the United States, college men typically compete on 8 km (5.0 mi) or 10 km (6.2 mi) courses, while college women race for 5 km (3.1 mi) or 6 km (3.7 mi).  High school courses may be as short as 2.5 km (1.6 mi), but the most common distance is 5 kilometers (3.1 mi) (although a few states, such as California and Louisiana, race 3 miles (4.8 km)).
All runners start at the same time, from a starting arc (or line) marked with lanes or boxes for each team or individual. An official, 50 meters or more in front of the starting line, fires a pistol to indicate the start. If runners collide and fall within the first 100 meters, officials can call the runners back and restart the race. Crossing the line or starting before the starting pistol is fired most often results in disqualification of the runner.
The course ends at a finish line located at the beginning of a funnel or chute (a long walkway marked with flags) that keeps athletes single-file in order of finish and facilitates accurate scoring.
Depending on the timing and scoring system, finish officials may collect a small slip from each runner's bib, to keep track of finishing positions. An alternative method (common in the UK) is to have four officials in two pairs. In the first pair, one official reads out numbers of finishers and the other records them. In the second pair, one official reads out times for the other to record. At the end of the race the two lists are joined along with information from the entry information. The major disadvantage of this system is that distractions can easily upset the results, particularly when large numbers of runners finish close together.
Chip timing has grown in popularity to increase accuracy and decrease the number of officials required at the finish line. Each runner attaches a transponder with RFID to his or her shoe. When the runner crosses the finish line an electronic pad records the chip number and matches the runner to a database. Chip timing allows officials to use checkpoint mats throughout the race to calculate split times, and to ensure runners cover the entire course. This is by far the most accurate method, although it is the most expensive.

Strategy
Because of differences between courses in running surface, frequency and tightness of turns, and amount of up and downhill, cross country strategy does not necessarily simplify to running a steady pace from start to finish. Coaches and cross country runners debate the relative merits of fast starts to get clear of the field, versus steady pacing to maximize physiological efficiency. I favor training to fun full speed for the duration of the course. Stephanie Tulloch, Daniel’s mother believes in starting slow and making up the time and distance at the end of the race.
Some teams emphasize running in a group in order to provide encouragement to others on the team, while others hold that every individual should run his or her own race. In addition, whether you run ahead 'of the pack' or behind it and pull ahead in the end is important, but can vary according to the runner's individual skill, endurance, and the length of the race. Most important, however, is the training beforehand.
United States
USA Track & Field hosts four annual national cross country championships. The USA Cross Country Championships, first held in 1890, include six races: master’s women (8 km), master’s men (8 km), junior women (6 km), junior men (8 km), open women (8 km) and open men (12 km). In addition to crowning national champions, the championships serve as the trials race to select the Team USA squad for the IAAF World Cross Country Championships. The USA Masters 5 km Cross Country Championships, first held in 2002, include a men's race and a women's race. The USATF National Club Cross Country Championships, first held in 1998, feature the top clubs from across the United States as they vie for honors and bragging rights as the nation's top cross country team. The USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships, first held in 2001, has races for boys and girls in five different two-year age divisions.
Most American universities and colleges field men's and women are cross country teams as part of their athletic program. Over 900 men's cross country teams and over 1000 women's cross country teams compete in the three divisions of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Men usually race 10 km (6.2 mi) or 8 km (5.0 mi), and women usually race 6 km (3.7 mi) or 5 km (3.1 mi). The season culminates in men's and women's championships.
Every state offers cross country as a high school sport for boys and girls. Over 440,000 high school students compete in cross country each year, making it the sixth most popular sport for girls, and seventh most popular for boys. The standard high school cross country race distance is 5 km (3.1 mi), though some states run a shorter, 3- to 4-kilometer course for girls. Beginning in 1979, the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships have offered a national championship for high school cross country runners. Since 2004, the Nike Cross Nationals have offered an alternative national championship, focused on teams rather than individuals. A 2008 film, The Long Green Line, documented the success of Joe Newton, cross country coach at York Community High School in Elmhurst, Illinois
While many middle schools (grades 6-8) in the U.S. offer cross country as a school sport, youth running clubs dominate in this age group. A typical middle school course is 3 km (1.9 mi) or 2 mi (3.2 km), and races may not split up boys and girls. Few elementary schools in the U.S. have school teams, but many running clubs exist for youth runners. Youth running clubs compete in local, regional, and national championships sanctioned by the AAU or USATF. Course distances for this age group vary depending on the age of the athlete. Common championship distances are:

Road Running
Road running is the sport of running on a measured course over an established road (as opposed to track and cross country running). These events would be classified as long distance according to athletics terminology, with distances typically ranging from 5 kilometers to 42.2 kilometers in the marathon. They may involve large numbers of runners or wheelchair entrants. Road running is part of a group of road events known as "road races". Road running is one aspect in the overall sport of athletics.
Road running may offer those involved a range of challenges and interests such as dealing with hills, sharp bends, varied surfaces, inclement weather, and involvement in a large group. Aerobic fitness, or the ability of the body to use oxygen, is the biggest factor contributing to success.
The impact of running on roads puts more stress on the feet, knees, and lower back than running on dirt or grass. It can compensate by providing a consistent, level surface. It may put less strain on the Achilles tendon.
Race Courses
Race courses are usually held on the streets of major cities and towns, but can be on any road. The IAAF recognizes nine common distances for road races: 10 kilometers (6.2 mi), 15 kilometers (9.3 mi), 20 kilometers (12 mi), half-marathon (21.097 km or 13.1 mi), 25 kilometers (16 mi), 30 kilometers (19 mi), marathon (42.195 km or 26.2 mi), 100 kilometers (62 mi), and Ekiden marathon relay.[2] Other common distances include 5 kilometers (3.1 mi), 8 kilometers (5.0 mi), 12 kilometers (7.5 mi), and 10 miles (16 km).
Some major events have unique distances. The "Round the Bays" run in Auckland, New Zealand is 8.4 kilometers (5.2 mi); the Falmouth Road Race in Falmouth, Cape Cod is 7.1 miles (11.4 km); "City to Surf" in Sydney, Australia is 14 kilometers (8.7 mi); Honolulu's "Great Aloha Run" is 8.15 miles (13.12 km); the "King Island Imperial 20"[3] is 32 kilometers (20 mi) long; and the "Charleston Distance Run" in Charleston, West Virginia is 15 miles (24 km).
Most road race courses have a certificate of course accuracy which confirms that they have been measured with an accuracy of better than 0.1%, i.e. to within 10 m for a 10 km race. It is common for formally certified courses to be intentionally lengthened by one meter per km to ensure that they are not short. Measurement is normally done by means of a calibrated bicycle fitted with a Jones Counter. If a world record is set on a race course, the course is independently remeasured to verify that it was the correct length.
Is Daniel Ready for the 3K RUN?
