Occupy Wall Street Protests

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Governor's Mansion

The “Occupy Wall Street” protest is spreading across the country. The demonstrations in New York, Washington DC, and in many other cities in the country are against corporate greed and war. I have been involved in political change for the past 45 years. That is why many people asked me for my opinion on this most current action. Then they walk away when they do not hear what they want to hear. It is great that you have these movements on the right and on the left because that keeps the real people running your governments in check. These movements come and they go. That is how the founding fathers of this country set it up. They did this so that you would believe that you have a stake in what goes on in this country.

Most people don’t understand how the political system works. The media got people thinking that it is all about belonging to a gang; the right, the left, Democrat, Republican, and etc. But as they say, all politics is local. I say, all politics is me, myself, and I. Most people’s politics center around a place to stay, food and drink, a job, safety, education, and family.

The government that is the most important to me and you is your local government (township, city, and county). They are the ones that provide police protection, education, and rules so that you have a place to live. This is the government that most affects your life. But most people pay this government little or no attention until things get so bad that they have to act.

Your state government provides the rules for your education system, the rules for what jobs and businesses can be available in the state. They provide most laws in society such as traffic, what food and drink can be provided, and etc. The Federal Government provides for national defense, meaning that they tell you who the enemy is. They tell you what foods, medicines, and products can be brought into the country. They provide the general welfare to the 50 states and its territories. The polling places are usually more crowded when voting for the President than at any other time.

Most people believe that we live under a Democratic/Republic form of government. That may have been true until 1812. Today we live under a National Socialist Government that is run for the people under a Democratic/Republic form of government. Yes, you have the right to vote for him or her under the Democratic or Republican Party. You can vote for a third party if you want. In most places, they do not win. If your person wins, that person will help make the rules for you to live under. You do not vote for the rules at the poles. That is why it is called a Democratic/Republic.

The corporation is run by people who have the most votes. These votes are given to them by people with the money to buy shares of the corporation. If you have enough money to buy the votes than you can run the company. Companies with common interest band together and create associations. These associations put money into political campaigns on the state and federal level. In many places, they control the local governments. That way, no matter who you vote for, the politicians elected will be controlled by such business associations.

The corporation and its supporting businesses supply the jobs in an area. They are the businesses who the school system is designed around. That way the graduates of the school system can be used by the corporation to produce it goods and services. The roads and bridge construction is done with the corporations in mind. This is why for example; Pittsburgh, Pa. in the late 1960s was the third largest corporate capital city in the nation. It had a large middle class with most of them owning their own homes. The four county area was built on the steel, glass, and coal industries. But when they all moved overseas, the area collapsed. With no work, people lost their houses and had to move. Supporting businesses went under. The area was reduced to a small percentage of its population. They were forced to restructure their local governments and they lost congressional seats.

This is the power that corporations have in America. This is why these associations tell you; the public who to elect for federal and most state offices. This is why politicians must do what these associations say. These associations support cooperating politicians with large political donations. Here is why the Military Industrial Complex controls 25% of the federal budget.
