Winter 2013 Daniel Repeats: Goes to Nationals Again

Daniel L. Tulloch with his athletic back pack walking toward the Bennett Indoor Athletic Complex at 1519 Hooper Ave. in Toms River, New Jersey on the morning of Sunday February 24, 2013 with trainer and babysitter Kathy S. Derr of White Deer, Pa.

The Best Laid Plans

Since returning from the USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Meet in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Stephanie Tulloch and I made plans for Daniel to win the 1500 Meter and 800 Meter Run at the USATF Northeast Zone meet in New Jersey. When I left the house at 7:00 AM, we did not expect him to go to nationals in the long jump since we had very little practice in this event.

The first problem came when Daniel caught the flu and had a temperature of 101 on Tuesday February  19th, 4 days before the meet. I knew that was not going to be good. This was a meet that covered the Northeast United States but I did not expect over 3,000 children to compete in this meet. So at least one wheel on my bus came off as the indoor track meet progressed.

Daniel, the Jamaican Flash came away from this USATF Indoor Northeast Championship meet as follows;
  •  Fourth Seed in the Long Jump
  •  Third Seed in the 1500 Meter Run
  •  Fourth Seed in the 800 Meter Run.

Daniel came in third in the 1500 Meter with a time of 6 Minutes 11.2 Seconds. The Flash ran the 800 Meter in 3 Minutes 14.84 Seconds coming in fourth place. He came in fourth in the Long Jump, with a length of 6 Feet, 10.25 Inches (2.09 meters).

This meet settled the rankings of the children in the USATF Northeast Zone (the North Eastern United States).  For the USATF Sub-Bantam Boys, Daniel is ranked 3rd in the 1500 Meters, 4th in the 800 Meters, and 4th in the Long Jump.

Here is Stephanie the mother of Daniel and training coach preparing Daniel for the 1500 Meter run.
While Kathy S. Derr is preparing Daniel's equipment and preparing to take care of brother David.
David Tulloch and their father "the Jamaican" Damine Tulloch looks on.

The Northeast Zone is made up of the following associations; Adirondack (upstate New  York), New York, Niagara (Western New York), Long Island, New England, Connecticut, Maine, New Jersey, Three Rivers (Western Pennsylvania), Mid Atlantic (Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware).
The top 6 individuals in each age group advanced to the National Indoor Championships that will take place in Prince George’s County, Maryland on March 9-10, 2013. Here Daniel and the other 5 in each event will compete against the rest of the United States represented by the South, Midwest, West, and Host Zone (Potomac Valley Association).

Four years ago, Daniel placed 2nd in the Northeast but rule 100c said that children must be at least 7 years old to run at Nationals. Now he is of age and he is going to represent the Mid-Atlantic Association and the Northeast Zone at the 2013 Indoor National Meet.

Daniel took 3rd in the 1500 Meter Run at the Northeast Zone meet. He ran out of steam toward the end when an athlete passed him about 100 Meters from the finish line.

Daniel took 4th in the 800 Meter Run. He qualified to run at Nationals in this event.

The times of all the athletes in their events are on the USATF New Jersey website:

USATF National Indoor Meet on March 9th and 10th

March 9, 2013
  •           Long Jump at 9:00 AM
  •           800 Meter Run at 2:45 PM

March 10, 2013
  •           1500 Meter Run at 12:15 PM

The Meet from Hell

The meet was taking longer than expected so after Daniel ran the 800 Meters the Tulloch's went home. Daniel had school the next day.  David was not willing to be nice one second longer.

That is when my real problems began. The track meet was just a few blocks from the Atlantic Ocean. The ground that the site was on is not dirt but sand. I parked in the only place available, on the sand. Needless to say, when I went to move my car, it was not going any where.

With 3,000 children and their coaches and parents, I do not have to tell you that it did not take long before arguments and drama broke out all over the complex. It was not helped that some couches and track clubs got special favors when it came to being allowed to enter and use the track. By 5:00 PM the portable potties were smelling like a bathroom that has not been cleaned for 10 years. Do not look inside the potty because you will see people's condition at the time they used it (use your own imagination).

In fact, people started going into the Tom's River Middle School to use the bathrooms. That lead to the same conditions in the school. Not only that but one bathroom could not be used because of a power failure.

As I came out of the school preparing to go home, I heard one lady on her cell phone say, "This is a track meet from hell!" In my mind I said, "Yes lady and you don't know the half of it. It was dark when I started my 165 mile trip home. I can't see well at night when it is cloudy. After getting lost in New Jersey, I found Rt. 70 West. Knowing that going west will get me back into Pennsylvania, I took Rt. 70 West to Philadelphia. That put me on Rt. 30 West and on the Turnpike home. I got home at 10:00 PM.

Boom, Get that glass out of my ass!

Breaking Space News

An Astroid Coming Towards Earth

My radio turned on automatically at 6:00 AM Friday February 15, 2013. The first thing I
heard was that a meteor exploded over a Russian City in the Ural Mountains. The report
said, “Hundreds of people have been injured after a meteor shower sent dangerous
fragments crashing to the ground as it streaked over Russia – with many injured by broken
glass as windows shattered.” I turned on the TV and heard on several shows that this
incident has nothing to do with a 150-foot asteroid coming within 17,500 mile of Earth at
about 2:15 PM. They had well known scientist coming on TV saying this like it is fact.

First click on the link below. Let me show you what a small meteor can do to a city!

A series of explosions in the skies of Russia's Urals region, reportedly caused by a meteor shower, has sparked panic in three major cities. Witnesses said that houses shuddered, windows were blown out and cellphones stopped working.

Atmospheric phenomena have been registered in the cities of Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg and Tyumen.

In Chelyabinsk, witnesses said the explosion was so loud that it resembled an earthquake and thunder at the same time, and that there were huge trails of smoke across the sky. Others reported seeing burning objects fall to earth.

Police in the Chelyabinsk region are reportedly on high alert, and have enacted the 'Fortress' plan in order to protect vital infrastructure.

Office buildings in downtown Chelyabinsk are being evacuated. Injuries were reported at one of the city's secondary schools, supposedly from smashed windows. No other injuries have been reported so far.

An emergency message published on the website of the Chelyabinsk regional authority urged residents to pick up their children from school and remain at home if possible.

The regional Emergency Ministry said the phenomenon was a meteorite shower, but locals have speculated that it was a military fighter jet crash or a missile explosion.

"According to preliminary data, the flashes seen over the Urals were caused by [a] meteorite shower," the Emergency Ministry told Itar-Tass news agency.

The Emergency Ministry reported that no civil aircraft were damaged by the meteorite shower, and that "all flights proceed according to schedule." No local power stations were damaged, either.

Residents of the town of Emanzhilinsk, some 50 kilometers from Chelyabinsk, said they witnessed a flying object that suddenly burst into flames, broke apart and fell to earth. A black cloud was reported hanging above the town.

Witnesses in Chelyabinsk said the city's air smells like gunpowder.

Many locals reported that the explosion rattled their houses and smashed windows.

"This explosion, my ears popped, windows were smashed... phone doesn't work," Evgeniya Gabun wrote on Twitter.

"My window smashed, I am all shaking! Everybody says, that a plane crashed," Twitter user Katya Grechannikova reported.

Many speculated on what caused the powerful explosion -- some claimed it was a crashed plane, while others said it could have been a UFO.

"My windows were not smashed, but I first thought that my house is being dismantled, then I thought it was a UFO, and my eventual thought was an earthquake," Bukreeva Olga wrote on Twitter.
The projectory of the 150 foot Asteroid that will pass Earth at 2:15pm on Feb. 15, 2013.
It will pass between our weather satilites and Earth.

I     I hate to disagree with these very smart people

      This is what Shoemaker-Levy 9
did as it passed by Jupiter and a few years later came back
and crashed into the planet. Look at this video below.

 Comet Hits Jupiter 1994 - Shoemaker-Levy 9
In my opinion, what happened in Russia is part of the 150 foot asteroid story of February 15th. Just like Shoemaker-Levy 9, we are dealing with a string of asteroid fragments, not just two asteroids or meteors. One scientist said on NBC this morning that this Russian incident happened far too early to be related to a rock that will pass by many hours later.
I disagree. You see how Shoemaker-Levy 9 broke up a comet as it passed by? Now what if this object that is passing by Earth is part of an ancient comet that is as much as a billion years old. It could have passed by and broke up near Jupiter one billion years ago. That could have given the comet debris time to string itself out over 500 million or more miles. The debris could vary in size from a few grains to large 150 foot or more pieces. The debris could be made of rock, iron, ice, or a combination of material.
The Earth maybe passing through this string of debris as it goes around the sun (our star is called Sole). Many of these pieces of debris could enter the Earth’s Atmosphere. Most of it, we may not notice. But some like what happened in Russia could cause problems among the population. As the meteorites blows up and the blast wave brings down buildings and breaks windows, it may have some of us panicking as we say, “Hey, help me get this glass out of my ass!”
You can take that glass out of our ass but the 150 Foot rock is coming back to hit the Earth in the year 2039.

Daniel’s Four Year Anniversary as the Jamaican Flash

Barryallen-kitson.JPG

The Flash (Bartholomew Henry "Barry" Allen) is a fictional character, a superhero in the DC Comics universe. He is the second character known as the Flash. The character first appeared in Showcase #4 (Oct. 1956), created by writers Robert Kanigher and John Broome and penciler Carmine Infantino.[1] His name combines talk show hosts Barry Gray and Steve Allen.[2] His death in 1985 removed the character from the regular DC lineup for 23 years. His return to regular comics occurred in 2008 within the pages of Grant Morrison's Final Crisis limited series.

History of the Flash
Daniel is preparing for his first 1500 Meter Run in Tom's River, New Jersey at age 4. His mother Stephanie Tulloch is applying lotion while his father, Daniel Tulloch looks on. His father is from Jamaica. This is the reason why Daniel is called the Jamaican Flash.

When Daniel Tulloch was 3 years old, he ran around the house believing that he was the Flash on the TV cartoon show.  He would run around from one room to the other getting on everyone’s nerves.  But like his mother Stephanie, he seems to have this running endurance as well as speed. So at age 4, I started taking him to the track and found that he could run 5 miles at a time and never perspire or become tired.  So I entered him in the Harrisburg YMCA Half Mile Run. Toward the end of his 4 year old life, the Tulloch family and I took out a membership in USATF and entered him in his first organized indoor track and field meet. The meet was held in Toms River, New Jersey. This is where Daniel will run again on February 24, 2013 as an 8 year old.
Today at age 7 and almost 8 years of age, Daniel has more track and field experience than most track and field children coming out of High School.

Raising Money for Nationals and International Events
The complex is known as "The Bubble" and is the home of numerous sports activities next to Toms River Intermediate East school.

When Daniel ran for the first time at Toms River, New Jersey, he qualified to participate in the USATF Indoor National Meet in Chicago. But USATF rule 100c disqualified him from participating because he was not 7 years old or older. He qualified for other national meets over the past 4 years but could not go because of age.  This is why the first national meet that he participated in was in Albuquerque, New Mexico in December, 2012. That was the USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships.
This is when I found out that participating in track and field/ cross country all year round on a world bases is not like participating in high school and middle school events.
This is Daniel's school district. From Superintendent Carol Johnson, to Daniel's Principal Robert Stewart, of Paxtang Elementary School, they have been very supportive of second grader Daniel Tulloch. The principal was on the Central Dauphin wrestling team back in the day. Hopefully, when Daniel becomes of age, he will make and qualify for the middle school and the high school track and field/ cross country teams. I like to tease Ms. Correll, Daniel's Gym Teacher about Daniel receiving extra credit for his Track and Field activities. Second graders do not receive letter grades in Gym. So giving Daniel extra credit cannot be done.
Don't think that just because Daniel excels in Track and Field that he is no good in academic school work. His second grade teacher Ms. Goklaney has increased his education level to the advanced level in Reading and Math. A good Math and Reading foundation will allow Daniel to learn whatever he needs to learn to make a good living. I will be teaching him Applied Physics in Elementary Gravitational Propulsion. Stephanie will be teaching him business theory. If he continues at this rate of physical and mental development, Daniel should be able to do anything that he wants to do in 15 to 20 years.
The problem with world competition is raising the money to get to the events. This is why Stephanie is spending time on Daniel's daily practices while I spend more and more time raising money for his national and international travels. Daniel has a fund at Integrity bank for his national and international traveling expense. Both Stephanie and I have credit ratings above 800. This means that we both know how to handle money. Like with the Albuquerque, New Mexico trip, I only withdrew $400 to pay for Daniel's plane fare. On short national trips, we will only give him money for lodging fees. For long national trips, we will give him money for airline fees.
We are happy to have people like
Cicily Waeger who made a large financial contribution to Daniel's cause.
and Linda Beaver who sold and bought candy in Daniel's fund raiser. As a matter of fact, the Derr Family, who Linda is a member have contributed a large amount of money to Daniel's cause.
The Derr Family sends Kathy Derr when Daniel has events. She watches Daniel's brother David while Stephanie coaches Daniel at track meets.

Here is Kathy taking candy back to Derr Land (Central and Northern Pennsylvania) to Deb Delaney and other members of the family for sale to help Daniel in future National and International Events. Gerry Parker of Orlando Florida sends Daniel money every now and then and always has Daniel in her prayers.
The money is not to pay for any other activities or expenses that Daniel or any other member of the family has. It is only to pay for Daniel's traveling expenses associated with Nationals or International meets.
If you would like to send Daniel a letter of encouragement with a contribution, mail it to:

Donating Time and Money to Physical Fitness
This is the reason why they have track and field clubs around the Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Delaware area. It is easier to train children and it is easier to raise money for them for regional, national, and international trips. Since we do not have a club near Daniel, the Tulloch family and I have to do everything ourselves.
Hyleas Fountain in 1994 on the Greater Paxtonia Track Club. This experience helped her become a Silver Medalist in the Olympics in China in the year 2008.

By contributing to a child or group of children, you can be the factor in making a difference 10 to 20 years later. If you do not want to contribute to Daniel's cause, maybe you will consider contributing to the USA Track and Field fund  http://www.usatf.org/About/History.aspx or UAGTCA http://www.facebook.com/UAGTCA. If you do not want your time and money to go outside of your area, I am sure your local municipality has contact with the Hershey Youth Program http://www.usatf.org/About/History.aspx.  If you do not have the cash to support them, maybe you will give some of your time as support.
People are always talking about getting the children off the streets. Some say they will not give the children anything to do. People want to stop the killing in the street of children. People claim that they want to stop children from sitting around getting fat.  But no one will say, what can I do to help?
